The institution can, based on a specific assessment, cover expenses for a counselor.
A counselor is assigned to one of the parties if it is not possible to handle their interests in a sufficient manner. The aim is to ensure handling of the interests of both parties. It is possible for the complainant and the subject of a complaint to apply for a counselor.
Assignment of a counselor is based on an assessment made case-by-case. The NCP designates the counselor and bear the costs accordingly to an agreed rate. The counselor can be a lawyer, but it’s not a requirement.
It is not possible for the NCP to provide other financial assistance.
Furthermore, a party to a specific instance may provide own counselling without prior approval from the NCP, if the party bears the costs themselves.
